2015 Honda Civic Type R will Debut on March 2

Ever wondered what the fastest front-wheel drive car in the world looks like? It's definitely not a Golf GTI or a Peugeot RCZ R. And starting in March, it won't be the Renault Megane RS either, as Honda is coming out with a brand new Civic Type R and it's going to be spectacular.

Why are we talking about the Type R again? Because Honda has just released a short teaser video where it announces the debut date: 02.03.2015, just a few days ahead of the Geneva Motor Show.

Unlike the previous generation which had only 200 horsepower, the Type R is joining the turbocharged crowd for the first time ever and that could result in an output of nearly 300 hp. That's why we expect 0 to 100 km/h sprint times to drop from about 7 seconds to around 5.7s, in line with the best cars in the game. Can you imagine a Honda family car keeping up with a Porsche Boxster on the track?

To keep that in check, The hottest Civic ever made will have the biggest wing this side of a 911 GT3 RS, adjustable suspension, spoilers, skirts and… dubstep music. Everybody knows good music adds at least 10 hp!

Bringing ourselves back to reality for a second, we need to discuss what we see in the teaser video, more specifically the fact that the headlights are being shown. They're not the same units shown on the Type R Concept II, instead offering the same setup as the regular car.

The Civic is only one half of Honda's rediscovery of speed, as the Japanse automaker will pretty soon also introduce the NSX supercar into dealerships worldwide. But the funny thing is Type R hatchbacks have been spotted in Ohio, so America might get a rival for the Focus ST pretty soon.
