It seems Honda is more excited about the return of the Type R than we previously expected. Even though we're a year away from actually seeing a 300 hp Civic go down the road, the automaker has decided to launch a big-budget brand film out of its UK press office.
The clip is surreal and screams aggression, perhaps fitting given that's what the people who will buy the Type R want the most. From bold cats to tattoos, violence and hairless Sphynx cats, Honda is definitely pushing out from the comfort zone most automakers use to market their cars, especially the play-it-safe Germans.
Snarling wolves, attractive but bizarre looking women and Japanese swards – they're all there to say one thing: get ready for danger, get ready for the biggest adventure ever. And what about the burning speed camera? If you've never dreamed of that, than you're not a true petrolhead.
"The Honda Civic Type R is a car born out of racing. The 'R' in the badge isn't just a mark of the model, it's a reminder -- an advisory notice that this car isn't for everyone," Honda boasts.
The racing part refers to the Civic's participation in the British Touring Car Championship, where they won both the manufacturer and team titles in 2013. The famous Nurburgring track in Germany also plays a key role in the development of the Civic Type R. It's there that Honda hopes to hone the fastest hot hatch of all time.
With competition between Renault and SEAT already going strong, we could be headed for a FWD lollapalooza of turbocharged punches in 2015.
