As Toyota is getting ready to introduce its brand-new Corolla sedan, Japanese automaker and rival Honda is working on improving the Civic for the 2015 model year.
According to company executive Tetsuo Iwamura, the Honda Civic will gain the new “Earth Dreams” technology, already featured on the Accord model, which means a direct-injected engine and even a continuously-variable transmission. In addition, the Toyota Corolla competitor could also receive a new hybrid powertrain as part of the same program.
While the automaker has yet to reveal when will the new “Dream” Civic arrive, Automotive News reports it could happen in 2015. “We’ll be doing it for the Civic. The Civic has to evolve,” Iwamura said. “But we have to consider what timing works best.”
