After the Australian automaker showcased the Captiva 7 Active and the Colorado Storm truck, time has come for General Motors’ Aussie arm to show us the first glimpse of two new special editions: the 2015 Holden Commodore SV6 Lightning Sedan, as well as its ute counterpart.
First and foremost, pricing! The Lightning sedan goes for AUD 1,500 over the 2015 Holden VF SV6 Commodore Sedan (AUD 39,990 plus AUD 1,500), while the ute commands AUD 4,000 more than the standard SV6 Ute (AUD 34,990 plus AUD 4,000). Going on sale in late March, these babies have a lot going for them, all things considered.

The 2015 Holden VF Commodore SV6 Lighting in sedan guise adds specially appointed trim over the standard model, bits and pieces like those go-faster 20-inch forged alloy wheels, a gloss black lip spoiler, similarly gloss black front grille surrounds and fender vents, as well as a set of black side decals and alloy foot pedals.

As for the 2015 Holden VF SV6 Lighting Ute, this bad boy boasts with all of the previously mentioned plus a slimline hard tonneau for its bed. Inside they’re both packed full of value: MyLink Infotainment with 8-inch touchscreen display, Blind Spot Alert, a rearview parking camera, cruise control, Automatic Park Assist, you name it, every goodie imaginable is there.

Like any SV6-grade model, the SV6 Lighting brothers are both animated by a 210 kW (281 HP) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) 3.6-liter SIDI direct-injected V6 motor, returning 9 l/100 km based on the ADR 81/02 testing for combined driving. If you also plan on towing and hauling, the VF Commodore Sedan in this specification can do 1,600 kilos with the optional trailering brakes.
