Harley-Davidson plans to introduce a Low version of the Electra Glide Ultra Classic, rumor has it. No photos or renderings of the new motorcycle have surfaced yet (the header photo shows the current Electra Glide Ultra Classic model) but we can expect this bike to be pretty similar to the lines of the base version.
However, H-D might be trying to expand a bit the demographics for their big touring machines, with the revisions in the ergonomics department aimed at offering riders with a shorter inseam a boost of confidence when aboard these bikes.

The recipe might be successful, especially as Harley doesn’t have to go far to add “Low” versions for pretty much any on its models. While the frame of these motorcycles will remain basically unchanged, shorter suspensions and redesigned, lower seats might do the trick with minimal costs, if any at all, considering the fact that the tests and trials for such machines are over.

Simply picking the same type of proven suspensions but in a shorter trim could indeed reduce the cost of the bike, even though we’re not at all sure Milwaukee will make such a move. The same goes for the seats, since less foam and cover material should lower the costs. Still, it’s hard to say anything until the bike breaks cover.

If the rumors are true, then the 2015 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Classic Low might be introduced with the same. Twin-cooled Twin Cam 103 1,690cc injected engine packing 138Nm (102 lb-ft) of torque @3,750 revs, and with pretty much the same level of equipment, thus the same 411kg (907 lb) wet weight. The seat height of the Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Classic is 740mm (29”), so anything around 68.5cm (27”) and above could be a safe presumption.
