Harley adds the 883 Superlow to their middleweight displacement 2015 roster, offering customers in search of lighter, easily-maneuverable bikes a choice really worth considering, especially when these future customers are individuals with a shorter inseam.
The 2015 Harley-Davidson 883 Sportster Superlow packs the ageless looks of the classic small Sportster, but with revised dimensions. Essentially, the Superlow is a slightly smaller version of the traditional Sportster, with the lower seat height being most likely the first thing riders will notice about the bike. Slight variations of the successful Sportster recipe are introduced in the shape of the 695mm (27.3”) seat height, compared to the 746mm (29.4”) of the 2015 883 Roadster, a slightly more ample rake of 31.1 degrees, compared to the 29.7 degree fork angle of the mentioned version, a slightly shorter overall length and wheelbase.

The front tire of the 2015 Harley-Davidson 883 Sportster Superlow is beefed up from 100mm wide to 120mm, for a more massive look which complements the classic teardrop tank. Speaking of the fuel, the Superlow can accommodate significantly more, boasting a 17-liter (4.5 US gal) tank, compared to the rather skimpy 12.5-liter (3.3 US gal) the Roadster can hold.

Being a Sportster, the engine remains the air-cooled injected 883cc Evolution v-twin which can produce 70Nm (51.6 lb-ft) of torque at 3,750 revs. Still, given the lighter build of the 2015 Harley-Davidson Superlow, which tips the scales at 245kg (541 lbs) in running order, the engine should pull a bit harder, adding to the overall fun factor.

Harley is offering a new paint scheme over the existing black, pearl and red liveries, but frankly, the new white hot pearl / blue hot pearl is rather unimpressive. However, Harley has readied an impressive catalog of aftermarket parts and accessories which will easily, but not cheaply, transform your 2015 Superlow and add a hefty dose of personal styling to the machine. The price is yet to be announced.
