2015 GMC Canyon Set for Detroit Debut

The 2015 GMC Canyon pickup truck will be unveiled at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show next month. The news came via the event’s official newsletter, NAIAS Connect, which lists a few of the vehicles that will be displayed in Detroit in less than a month.

General Motors has yet to reveal any details about the 2015 GMC Canyon, but the truck should be launched with the same powerplants found in the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado - a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder and an optional 3.6-liter V6.

Earlier this year, GM president Mark Reuss said there will be “more differentiations” between the 2015 Colorado and the Canyon. “GMC will be more about conquest. The Chevy will be about value,” he noted while speaking at the Texas State Fair.

The Canyon is expected to borrow some design cues from its bigger brother, the 2014 GMC Sierra, and offer class-leading payload capacity and trailering in a market currently dominated by the Toyota Tacoma and the Nissan Frontier. We’ll be right back with more details on the brand new Canyon as soon as GM releases any.
