Like most of GM’s lineup for the 2015 model year, the brand new GMC Canyon will be fitted with the company’s OnStar 4G LTE with built-in Wi-Fi hot spot and Siri Eyes Free Mode for iPhone users.
But the brand new truck is also getting Teen Driver, a new, configurable IntelliLink feature that allows parents to set a speed limiter and establish a speed warning between 40 and 70 miles per hour before handing the vehicle to their teenage drivers.

Teen Drive can also be used to set a radio volume limit via an app that automatically mutes it when the driver or front passenger safety belt is not fastened. Additionally, it has a “report card” that documents mileage, wide-open throttle and ABS events, maximum speed and other data. Teen Drive settings can be locked by a PIN so the driver can’t deactivate it.

Unlike the Canyon, the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado won’t be getting the new feature. However, Teen Driver could make it into more GM vehicles next year.
