2015 Ford S-Max Is a Posh Family Hauler

Compared to the compact C-Max facelift, the 2015 Ford S-Max is a large multi purpose vehicle that just happened to receive an all-new generation at the Paris Motor Show. The first aspects that grab your attention are the sleek and sporty profile and the chiseled lines. And then there's the plethora of comfort, gadgets and highly efficient engines.

The powerplant lineup for the 2015 Ford S-Max has both petrol and diesel-fed mills. Ford offers a basic 2-liter TDCi turbo diesel with 120 PS that's coupled to a six-speed manual, but 150 and 180 PS variants are also available. For added comfort, the latter diesels can be mated to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Yep, a dual-clutch transmission on an MPV. My, how times have changed for this automotive segment… If petrol floats your boat more than diesel, you can go for a 1.5L EcoBoost producing 160 PS or a 2-liter mill with a hefty 240 PS on tap for you. Auto start/stop, Active Grille Shutters, as well as Smart Regenerative Charging are available for those that want to cover more miles with a single tank of fuel.

Ford debuts Adaptive Steering in Europe with the new S-Max

By continually changing the ratio between the wheels and steering wheel according to the car's speed, this Adaptive Steering enhances the driving experience. How? Less turns lock to lock at city speeds or while maneuvering while parking, as well as better feedback through the steering wheel at high speeds.

Aside from the new integral link rear suspension, the other neat feature that enhances the way the 2015 Ford S-Max handles comes in the form of Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. Dynamic LED Headlamps with what Ford calls Glare-Free Highbeam is another highlight feature that the all-new S-Max MPV can be had with.

Comfort, flexibility and bucket-loads of appeal

Nevermind this family hauler can seat seven and the infotainment system's touchscreen display is bigger than an iPad Mini, the 2015 Ford S-Max boasts with 32 seating and loadspace combinations, a cavernous boot and Easy-Fold second and third row seats.

Last but not least, the driver hasn't been left out 'cos the traditional analog gauges in the instrument cluster can be pulled out from the dashboard if you pay the right price for the optional 10-inch digital instrument cluster. As if that wasn't snazzy enough, mums that go shopping often can be interested in a feature called Hands-Free Tailgate, doing what its name hints when your hands are full of groceries.
