Earlier this month, Mustang chief engineer Dave Pericak revealed that the sixth-generation pony could have been a hatchback. "We talked about a hatchback, briefly," he told Car&Driver, adding that a notchack body was also considered.
As expected, it didn't take too long for the 2015 Mustang to be rendered with a different rear end and we're just dying to know how many of you would've liked for Ford to use a hatchback/shooting brake design instead of a classic fastback body.
We know it contradicts Mustang heritage, and we care about that a lot, but we wouldn't mind seeing an aftermarket version of the 2015 model that would look like this. It would be a heck of a grocery getter and it would a perfect addition to our "Coolest Shooting Brakes Ever Made" list.
