The Blue Oval's service content website has recently released the owners manual for the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang (S550). Although deliveries of the fresh pony car haven't even started yet, a lot of people that dropped deposits on the new Stang can get acquainted with their future pride and joy, months before they'll get to drive their brand new ride.
First of all, the 2015 Ford Mustang owners manual numbers a whopping 438 pages, so you'll need a weekend or so to go through it all. As an introduction, Ford is warning buyers of the S550 that the car is equipped with service data recording and event data recording devices. Basically, the latter gizmo tells the police what speed the Ford Mustang was traveling at in case of a crash situation.

Parents of teenage girls and boys that just got their driver's licenses will certainly like a toy dubbed MyKey. This system consists of a programmable key, separate from the admin key of the vehicle. MyKey can be set to limit the Ford Mustang's top speed, the stereo's maximum volume level and control over other parameters that are important for reducing the risk of a crash. Now here's a very interesting bit of data: all three powerplant options can tow trailers that weigh a maximum 1,000 pounds (454 kilos).

A quirky feature that'll impress your buddies is the optional "Pony Projection Lights." Such a feature consists of special lights fitted in the side mirror housings, that project the Mustang logo onto the ground a short distance from the car with the illuminated entry and exit feature. Customers that opted for the six-speed stick shift transmission can find out at pages 134 and 135 what are the recommended upshifts for the best fuel economy for all three engine options: the entry-level 3.7-liter V6, 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-pot, as well as the 5-liter Coyote V8 that churns out 435 horsepower.

Last but not least, we deem necessary to talk about the scheduled maintenance of the 2015 Ford Mustang. The Blue Oval recommends to check the engine oil level and tire wear on a monthly basis. Every six months, owners need to clean battery connections, body and door drain holes, but also check the cooling system's fluid level. Drivers that operate the vehicle in extremely hot or cold weather are told to expect the "oil change required" message to pop every 3,000 to 5,000 miles (4,800 - 8,000 km).

At the other end of the scale, normal users will have to change the oil every 7,000 to 10,000 miles (12,000 - 16,000 km). Every 20,000 miles (32,000 km) the cabin air filter must be replaced, while the engine air filter is good for 30,000 miles (48,000 km). Engine coolant, spark plugs and the drive belt need changing every 100,000 miles (160,000 km), while transmission fluid and filters for both the automatic and manual boxes need to be replaced every 150,000 miles (240,000 km).
