Still somewhat of a mystery with Ford mum on any kind of details, the 2015 Ford Mustang is already a successful soap opera. Rumors and renderings keep on surfacing here and there and the tension builds as we’re getting closer to the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, when the completely redesigned pony will be revealed. Also a rumor by the way.
Now, time has come for us to add to the vast amount of speculative information floating around the 2015 Mustang. If you recall our report last month, a photo published by Jalopnik confirmed that the new Mustang will drop the traditional live rear axle for a more modern independent rear suspension. As usual, Ford declined to comment and no details were revealed.
However, we recently found out the 2015 Mustang could arrive with an IRS similar to that fitted in the new Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ. This piece of information was made public my Jason Odziana on the American Muscle blog. Odziana is currently working with FTE Automotive, who has supplied Ford with clutch, brakes and suspension systems for years now, and we know he’s also a former Roush Performance prototype tester. Given his background, we think this is more than just a daily dose of jibber-jabber.
Sure, some pieces are still missing from this puzzle, mainly because the 2015 Mustang will be getting a brand new platform, but this late May report claimed the upcoming Lincoln MKS and the next Ford Taurus could be underpinned by the S550 as well. There's also the fact that both the Fusion and the MKZ are front-wheel drive vehicles. And we thought waiting for the 2014 Corvette Stingray to be revealed was painful...
