Marketed as the Escape in the United States, the Ford Kuga has been upgraded recently with an extensive list of goodies, including previously optional features now offered as standard and a more efficient and powerful lineup of petrol and diesel engines.
Starting with the oily bits, the revised compact sport utility vehicle can be had with the 2.0 TDCi engine from the all-new 2015 Ford Mondeo. In 180 PS and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) guise, this engine is 10 percent more powerful and emits 19 grams of CO2 / km less than its predecessor. A 150 PS variant of the mill will be offered as well, returning 122 grams of CO2 / km.
In addition to those economical oil burners, there's the possibility to opt for the new 1.5-liter EcoBoost four-pot petrol, which is marginally kinder to the environment than the outgoing 1.6-liter EcoBoost. As always, both EcoBoost and Duratorq engines can be teamed up with a PowerShift automatic, as well as Ford's Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system.
As we mentioned earlier, some previously optional features are now coming as standard equipment, most notably the Auto-Start-Stop and Active Grille Shutter technology. New exterior finishes are in as well: Tiger Eye Metallic, Ruby Red Metallic and the elegant Magnetic Metallic. But the list of upgrades doesn't end here. Ford has enhanced the Kuga's in-car technology suite too with a few handy features.
These come in the form of Ford SYNC infotainment that enables the driver to access apps by voice command, including services such as Glympse, Spotify and Radioplayer. Aside from Cruise Control with Adjustable Speed Limiter, offered as standard on the Titanium series, the Kuga is also available with Adaptive Cruise Control including Forward Alert. Tire pressure monitoring is offered as standard too.
Lastly, the range-topping Titanium X grade can now be kitted with a sporty body-styling kit.
