Five days ago, Ford Australia released a teaser image of the 2015 Ford Falcon. Specifically, the sedan's headlight design. With this latest teaser photo provided, now we know how the tail lights will look like on the highly anticipated swan song model of the iconic nameplate.
Even though it's tightly cropped, the photograph reveals completely restyled tail lights, way more modern and attractive than the tall units adorning the outgoing FG model. The FH Falcon's rear light clusters feature a lengthened design reaching into the tailgate, while a horizontal bar finished in chrome runs from lamp to lamp.

Built in Australia and sold locally, this facelifted Ford Falcon will be the last hurrah of the Aussie model as well as the Blue Oval's operations in the country. With great regret, the automaker's Australian arm will close up shop in 2016 and people over here will be offered only import models built either in China or the US. However, the proud Falcon isn't the type of car to go out without a proper bang.

That bang comes in the form of the XR8-badged model, which is set to be unveiled on July 25th according to Tom Clancy, Ford New Zealand corporate affairs manager. In a recent interview with Yahoo NZ Autos, the official declared that the born-again Ford Falcon XR8 will borrow the supercharged 5-liter Miami V8 quad-cam motor, which has been available only on FPV products until this moment.

As for the more mundane Ford Falcon sedan, powertrains are expected to be carried over from the outgoing FG model. The entry-level model will be powered by a turbocharged 2-liter EcoBoost mill, while the mid-range engine will be the potent 4-liter inline-six developed locally. On the transmissions front, cog swapping will be dealt by either a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox, with oomph sent exclusively to the rear wheels.
