After Ford took its sweet time (13 weeks) to retool the Dearborn Truck Plant in order to make the 2015 F-150 happen, the Blue Oval now green lighted the Kansas City Assembly Plant to support production of the F-Series.

As truck enthusiasts may already know, the 13th generation of the light-duty F-Series shed up to 700 lbs (317 kg) thanks to its intricate military-grade aluminum construction. On top of this diet, using aluminum for the bed of the truck is a plus for those F-150 owners concerned about rusting.

Now in its 67th year of existence, the F-Series lineage of pickup trucks has been the hailed as the best-selling vehicle in America for 33 years and America’s favorite workhorse for 38 years. No wonder then why Ford decided to ramp up production of the highly-demanded 2015 F-150.

Ford president of The Americas Joe Hinrichs is thoroughly excited by how well the 2015 F-150 has been taken in by the public: “The all-new F-150 has surpassed our expectations – setting new standards for full-size truck capability, technology and efficiency,” the official declared.

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon added: “Six years ago, we made a commitment that the vehicles of the future would be built right here in the Show-Me State, and with today’s launch of the 2015 Ford F-150, we are delivering on that promise.”

The 2015 model year of the light-duty full-size truck can be had from $25,420 (XL Regular Cab 6-1/2’ box with the 3.5-liter V6 engine, 4x2 and the six-speed automatic). If you want the best the F-150 has to offer, then you’re looking at a V8-powered Platinum SuperCrew model, which starts from a rather hefty $50,960.
