2015 Ford EcoSport Facelift Priced in the UK, It’s Not Cheap

When it comes to mini crossover SUVs, the second-generation Ford EcoSport is one of the most controversial offerings available. The pre-facelift was ridiculed over its rear-mounted spare wheel and the steep pricing compared to its competitors. In the case of the 2015 Ford EcoSport facelift, we are glad that Ford decided to delete the unappealing spare wheel.

In terms of pricing, the UK-specification Ford EcoSport is still rather expensive, with OTR prices starting at £14,245. To put that figure into perspective, the bigger and better equipped Renault Captur Expression+ is £50 more costly. 50 pounds sterling, that’s it! In the EcoSport’s defense, the little FoMoCo machine is much improved over the pre-facelift in all areas.

With deliveries slated to start in October, the UK model is available with a choice of three extremely frugal engines, namely a 1.5-liter Ti-VCT, a 1-liter EcoBoost with 125 HP and a 1.5-liter TDCi turbo diesel with 95 horsepower. The engines produce from 115 grams of CO2 per kilometer to 149 g/km, meeting Euro 6 emissions standards. On the dynamic capabilities front, engineers worked overtime to set things straight.

Revisions were performed on the dampers, springs, rear torsion beam, 10-mm lower ride height, electronic power-assisted steering and electronic stability program. Aside from the dynamic hoo-hah, the Blue Oval tells that these revisions account for an improvement in ride quality as well. By losing the rear-mounted spare wheel, the Ford EcoSport now comes as standard with a (rather unusable) tire mobility kit.

The restyled interior boasts a 4-inch SYNC color display, partial leather seats on Titanium models, and additional chrome detailing on top of extra sound deadening for a more quieter ride. Opting for the Winter Pack, the British version of the 2015 Ford EcoSport facelift ups the ante with heated seats, mirrors, and front seats, as well as ventilation at the floor level for the rear passengers.
