Alongside the Ford Focus Mk3, the Global C platform is shared with a few other models including the Lincoln MKC, Transit Connect, Escape and the C-Max compact MPV. The second generation C-Max (C344) has been with us for the better part of 4 years now, so a mid-cycle facelift is just what Ford needs in order to maintain the nameplate's appeal.
For the 2015 model year, the facelifted C-Max will receive a more aggressive front grille with a whiff of Aston Martin to it, similar to what we've seen on the 2015 Ford Focus. In addition to the new face, slightly redesigned headlights are on the menu as well. Round the back the tail lights have received a little nip-and-tuck and now look somewhat like the clusters fitted to the Fusion.
Beneath the body shell there's not much to be expected from the 2015 Ford C-Max, marketed as the C-Max Hybrid and Energi in the United States. You can expect the usual minor updates that will lower fuel consumption and emissions by a small margin compared to the outgoing models. But there's a big possibility the new 1.5-liter EcoBoost that's available on the 2015 Ford Focus to be adopted by the updated C-Max as well. After all, the two are platform brothers.
It's unknown if the six-speed slush box will be replaced with the neat six-speed PowerShift twin-clutch transmission that's offered as an option on the 2015 Ford Fiesta. In terms of cabin design, just take a look at the facelifted Focus' interior and have a wild guess about what's in store for the refreshed C-Max. The phone keyboard nonsense will disappear, while the Sync with MyFord Touch interface will get a well deserved update with this facelift.
