Having pulled the wraps off the 2015 EBR 1190SX a fortnight ago, Erik Buell Racing was rather secretive and not much tech details had been given. However, today we can offer you a more comprehensive picture of the new naked EBR machine, alongside with a price tag and specifications.
For starters, we should talk about the $16,995 (€12,440) price, which sets it in the same range with the US prices of the all-new KTM 1290 Super Duke R. If you’re a comparison guy, you should know that the new EBR is a little more expensive than the similar naked beasts offered by Aprilia or BMW, namely the Tuono or the new S1000R. Depending on your preferences, this might be a drawback, or a plus. For us, seeing EBR coming forth with yet another nifty bike with less than stellar prices is definitely a huge plus, even though fans in Europe might be a little disheartened by the price which may just happen to go past the €20,000 ($27,320) mark.

The 2015 EBR 1190SX packs 1190cc of liquid-cooled v-twin madness, with a peak power of 185 horsepower @10,600 rpm and torque on tap: 101.6 lb-ft (137.8 Nm) at 8,200 revs. The bore and stroke is 106mm x 67.5mm (4.17 in. x 2.66in.), and the power unit is mated to a manual 6-speed transmission with a hydraulic clutch with vacuum operated slipper. However, it looks like the naked version of the 1190RX is not equipped with traction control, and this is a rather peculiar absence in such a modern machine.

EBR opted for a fuel tank integrated into the aliminium frame, an inverted Showa fork and a matching Showa rear damper without linkage. Both wheels are 17” aluminium ones, shod with Pirelli Diablo Corsa rubber, with a 386mm single perimeter rotor in the front and a 220mm rear one. The front caliper is an inside-out 8-piston one, while the rear brake uses a Hayes Performance 2-pot caliper.

Erik Buell Racing is offering the 2015 1190SX in Frost Bite White, Racing Red or Galactic Black, with Charcoal being the secondary color and the engine in Gunsmoke trim. The 1190SX is expected in dealership in early July, with no date announced for Europe yet.
