In DJ-ing jargon, back-to-back describes the moment when two DJs mix at the same time on the same desk. It’s a widely-known fact that few things are better in an audiophile’s life than going to see Daft Punk B2B-ing a 100,000-strong concert venue. But what if back-to-back was applied to muscle cars?
Well, Motor Authority’s latest comparison test is the perfect answer to that question, pitching the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat back-to-back for our visual enjoyment. Nope, the comparo test isn’t ready yet, but the two photos MA posted on Facebook got our hearts racing like our high school sweethearts once did.
What we’re dealing with here is history. On one hand, the Hellcat-ified Dodge Challenger is the Magnum Opus of muscle cars, while the Hellcat derivative of the Dodge Charger claims the title of fastest four-door sedan in the world powered by an internal combustion engine. The 691 HP Tesla Model S P85D is the bugger that trumps the straight line performance of the 707 horsepower 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat.
Speaking of which, the 6.2-liter HEMI and its ginormous supercharger are capable of 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) of twist, which is huuuuuge power for rear-wheel drive machines. As such, the photos below amass 1,414 horsepower and 1,300 lb-ft (1,782 Nm), enough grunt to ignite tarmac from burnouting.
Regarding which of the two Hellcat brothers is best, that’s hard to tell without an instrumented test. I prefer the Challenger because its rear fascia design renders it that wee bit wider than the Charger. But then again, with the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, you can simultaneously scare four of your friends...
