2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Does Airlift Drift Performance for Pennzoil

If this was an article for a gossip magazine, the title would have sounded something like "Ken Block Is Jealous of This Drifting Hellcat" or " Need for Speed is Child's Play: Check This Out!"

But we thought that a video where a Hellcat is being driven hard doesn't need to be overhyped. After all, what self-respecting petrolhead doesn't want to watch the most exciting Dodge made in decades being hooned?

This is an action-packed short film featuring famed stunt driver Rhys Millen and was shot on the gridded streets of Cape Town in South Africa. There's two sides to this commercial, put together by the guys at Pennzoil to promote their line of synthetic oil. The first shows the diabolical feline racing though empty streets at night. You've got plenty of tire torture, sideways action and other stuff the police and your mother would frown at.

The second part is even worse, as the 707 hp speed machine is shown drifting on top of a large platform suspended in the air by helicopters. We've even seen F1 cars on top of a hotel before, but this takes hooning to the next level.

The bad news is that the "airlift drift" scene is also fake. You can't get 4 helicopters to fly in perfect harmony like that. The shifting weight of the car or the wash of the blades could have sent any one of them crashing to the ground. The good news is that even without the fame shorts, this is an awesome video that just wouldn't be the same without the Challenger.

Available from $60,000 in America, the Hellcat version of the Challenger is described by its makers as an animal that "sits quietly, patiently, like it’s stalking prey." It does the quarter mile in 10.8 seconds right out of the box and has a top speed just 1 mile per hour shy of 200. How can you not love it?
