Slated to start airing on October 4th, this ad campaign from Dodge isn't just an excuse to promote the 2015 model year Challenger pony car. This ad campaign also highlights the Dodge Brothers' love and passion for developing great cars and how that drive still lives today in the refreshed 2015 Dodge Challenger.
Brothers Horace and John Dodge were initially the world's largest suppliers of automotive bits and bobs, but from 1900 to 1914, they managed to raise enough green dollar bills to start making their very own Dodge-branded personal means of transport.
As such, the first Dodge passenger vehicle was born in 1914. The four-cylinder Model 30 was assembled at Dodge's Hamtramck plant in Detroit, with production totaling over 45,000 examples of the breed by the end of 1915. It's regarded as the first mass-produced vehicle to feature an all-steel body.
Fast forward a century or so and here we are today, an era when Dodge is selling the 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat, the most powerful mass production muscle car ever made and sold in the U.S. of A.
Packing 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) of torque, the supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 under the bonnet is sending all that oomph to the rear wheels via a six-speed stick or an eight-speed auto.
However, the two commercials below feature a less powerful Challenger model, powered by the 392 HEMI and kitted with the Scat Pack Shaker hood. Even so, the Chrysler Group's chief marketing officer Olivier Francois is adamant that "everything Dodge does today honors John and Horace Dodge’s legacy."
