We’ve come a long way since that day at the beginning of the month when a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 battled it out with a 2014 Dodge Viper TA and lost. The fight only sparked even more battles, word battles that is, between ‘Vette and Viper aficionados.
More importantly, it added to a number of complaints regarding what multiple Z06 owners believed to be a heat soak issue with the blown Corvette. Nonetheless, the tuning world explained it is all actually a conservative ECU tune and after we contacted GM, they explained the reasons behind this.
Well, the same 2014 Viper TA that walked the Z06 now raced another example of the Corvette, also a seven-speed manual. However, this time the tables have turned, with the Z06 smoking the snake. Needless to say, this has stirred the waters quite a bit on the Corvette Forum, the place where the videos were originally posted.
The two drivers wanted to be certain of the result, so they pulled no less than five races. Subsequently, they started playing games for the Internet to behold later, so two extra runs were perfected with a hot girl in the C7’s passenger seat - she reportedly tips the scales at just 110 lbs (50 kg), but we’ll be back on the matter when we have the footage.
Both cars were bone stock and, in case any of you is curious about the Viper driver’s abilities to row the gears, you should know the guy managed to stay neck and neck with a Lamborghini Huracan.
The first clip below acts like a conclusion of the highway action they pulled. There’s also a second footage, which show the entire group of cars that was out to illegally play on the highway.
The video also shows the 2015 Corvette Z06 racing what is probably a stock 2014 Nissan GT-R, but we’ll let the footage explain.
We can’t end without reminding everybody that the Viper TA isn’t the best of its kind when it comes to such races. That title goes to the base, non-GTS Viper fitted with a Track Package. Compared to the TA, the base Track Pack Viper has less drag (more restrained aero pack) and, due to the lack of active dampers, is lighter by about... 50 percent of that girl’s weight.
