Chevrolet has finally revealed the 2015 Corvette Z06, the most track-capable Corvette in the brand’s history, at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.
Despite an early leak that said the supercar will have 620 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, Chevrolet revealed that the LT4 engine will actually deliver “at least” 625 HP and 635 lb-ft of torque. The 6.2-liter V8, which a 1.7-liter Eaton supercharger on top, will send power to the wheels via a standard seven-speed manual transmission or an optional eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Chevy will also be offering a Z07 package for the 2015 Z06, which will add carbon ceramic brakes, Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup Tires, an adjustable see-through center section for the rear wing and “aviation-style” winglets for the front splitter. Interior highlights will include unique colors schemes and a flat-bottom steering wheel.
Don’t expect the new Corvette Z06 to go on sale too soon, as it will only become available in early 2015. Final performance data and pricing will be announced later this year. Until then, enjoy our live photos from Detroit below and check out more details on the supercar in the company’s official press blast.
