Chevrolet may have dedicated the Z06 moniker to providing us with a balanced supercharged machine for the 2015 model year, but there are certain voices who can’t stop talking about the limitations of the factory blower.
As always, the aftermarket world is ready to help and Procharger has now released a range of supercharger kits that can take the muscle north of 1,000 hp at the crank. The company insists that all of the mods are bolt-on, so you won’t need to do any welding or cutting.

With its strong internals and relatively low compression ratio, the LT4 V8 under the bonnet of the Z06 was a good starting point. Out went the small factory roots supercharger, being replaced by a centrifugal setup.

Now about the LT4’s potential

At first, Procharger simply made the blower swap, keeping everything else stock - from the 10 psi boost level, to the timing and fuel setup. As a result, the 6.2-liter mill delivered an 115 hp premium.

reaching 825 hp, or 720 horsepower at the wheels.

In theory, a more serious boost setup and a camshaft update would bring the Z06 in the nicely-sounding 1,000 HP area. In practice, the V8 was gifted with a host of other supporting mods, all with the aim of keeping things reliable.

To be more precise, we are referring to hardware such as the intake manifold and the air-to-air intercooler - the latter comes in two setups, depending on the power level chosen. Speaking of which, once the company installed the supporting mods mentioned above and increased the boost, the LT4 reached 825 hp, or 720 hp at the wheels. Nevertheless, Procharger claims their blower is 1,600 hp-capable, but that would require further mods.

While the system is 100 percent reversible, we’re convinced there won’t be too many Z06 drivers who will wish to return to the stock 650 hp setup.

And just in case you’ve read this and you’re thinking “yeah, 1,000 hp is cool, but not cool enough,” you should keep in mind that Procharged C6 Vettes that are still run on the street have reached the 1,600 hp mark nowadays.
