These days the first Corvette Z06 owners have started taking delivery of their supercars and we were wondering how things go along. Let’s just hope that not all Z06s will receive a breaking in breaking in such as the one in the clip below, which is actually a... one-minute burnout.
Celebrating through a burnout might seem like the best way to go, if you happen to know nothing about how a car works. Interestingly enough, the guys who own this supercharged ‘Vette happen to know their way around a motor, since we’re talking about an aftermarket specialist called Vengeance Racing. For instance, they’re the first to have come up with a 1,000 RWHP C7 Corvette, so why then are they treating their brand spanking new Z06 like this?

As the modders themselves explain - “Some of you may not agree with our "break in" procedure, but we have an overwhelming amount of folks ask us to duplicate our C7 Stingray delivery [they pulled a similar stunt], so with that being said the next three miles [odo result of the burnout] on our C7 were done without moving one inch....”

The car was subsequently put to work even harder

Vengeance Racing subsequently drove their Corvette Z06 back to the shop and once again put it to work, strapping it to a dyno. While the sheet below shows the hp and torque curves of the stock car, the crew explains the LT4 small-block has enough muscle to have pulled that burnout at 2,000 rpm - “This is our shop R&D car and will be pushed to the absolute limits... A 2,000rpm burn out with ZERO boost did not hurt a thing.”

Unsurprisingly, quite a lot of people have been freaking out online about the treatment this Corvette has received and they don’t even know about the full boost dyno run. Vengeance Racing can’t be bothered though, as they’ll be replacing quite a lot of the mechanical goodies under the bonnet anyway.

The lesson you have to take away from here? Improper running in can cause considerable drops in engine performance and efficiency, so don’t try this at home, unless you’re a tuner, of course.
