It’s been almost an year since the all-new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 made its debut at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. Finally, after much waiting and nail biting for those that placed a deposit on one, deliveries started for the most powerful Corvette model ever made.
Priced at $78,995 (including destination) for the coupe and $83,995 for the convertible, this isn’t a cheap car, but the performance it boasts with beggars belief. Before you find out how fast it accelerates, keep in mind this bad boy weighs 3,524 lbs (1,598 kilograms) in two-door coupe guise.

Despite the extra lard, the new-gen LT4 small-block V8 is a supercharged tour-de-force. Its 650 horsepower an 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) of twist at 3,600 rpm translates to only 2.95 seconds to 60 mph (96 km/h) when equipped with the all-new Hydra-Matic 8L90 eight-speed automatic transmission.

As for the seven-speed stick shift, 3.2 seconds are needed to hit that velocity figure

To boot, the quarter mile sprint takes just 10.95 seconds with the automatic gearbox and 11.2 seconds with the seven-speed manual. Both versions of the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 recorded 127 mph (204.3 km/h) at the end of the quarter mile dash.

Hope you specified your Z06 with the so-called Z07 Performance Package because all results were achieved with it. As a brief reminder, the pack adds go-faster goodies such as Brembo carbon ceramic brake rotors and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, an aggressive aerodynamic package, which delivers the most downforce of any road-going vehicle GM has ever tested and more performance bits and bobs.

Commenting on the announcement according to which deliveries will commence this week, Bowling Green Assembly manager Jeff Lamarche noted: “It has been an incredible opportunity to work on Chevy’s most capable model. It truly is an amazing car, and we’re thrilled to get them into the hands of our eager customers.”
