Furthermore, the most expensive first-unit GM car auctioned by Barrett Jackson in the last five years is the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray #1, which changed hands for a mind-blowing $1,1 million. If you wonder who would spend so much money on a vehicle that's actually worth a nudge over $60k, that's NASCAR owner Joseph Rick Hendrick III.
We have a sneaking suspicion that Mr. Hendrick is planning to snatch the first 2015 model year Vette as well at the upcoming Las Vegas auction later this September. This time around, proceeds will benefit CARE House of Oakland County. What about the car in question? Well, the 2015 Corvette VIN #001 comes with the slick 8L90 eight-speed automatic, the one that GM says can upshift faster than the Porsche PDK dual-clutch transmission.
To boot, Barrett Jackson's description of the car tells that the 6.2-liter V8 is supercharged to 650 horsepower, meaning this bad boy gets the same oomph like the full-on Z06. Furthermore, the front and the rear have been extended by 56 mm and 80 mm, respectively, to create a more arresting stance and for enhanced handling dynamics.
