Unlike most other carmakers, Mercedes-Benz is really taking their pre-series production testing seriously, even though when talking about only a slightly different version of an already existing model.
For example, the upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake is in essence just a CLA with a slightly higher roofline and a hatch rear, or in other words the smaller brother to the CLS Shooting Brake X218.

Normally, apart from a bit of suspension tuning, it should be mechanically-identical to the “regular” CLA, so there would be no crucial need for hot and cold-weather testing all over the world.

Mercedes-Benz doesn't agree, apparently, as this is the fourth time that our spies have caught a pre-production prototype of the model doing its testing rounds near the North Pole this winter.

To give you an idea of how cold it is where this car is driving, you should check out the icicles that have formed under each of the rear exhaust tips. The production model of the CLA Shooting Brake should arrive on dealerships starting with the following autumn.
