2015 Chevrolet SS Rumored to Get Six-Speed Manual and Magnetic Ride Control

To much disappointment from the stick shift fan base, Chevrolet offers the SS only with a six-speed automatic. However, sigh no more, manual fans, cause GM is planning to make things right as early as this summer according to a recent slip on Twitter from motoring journalist Jonny Lieberman.

Following a 17-year hiatus, Chevrolet introduced last year a rear-wheel drive performance sedan badged as the Super Sport. This tame looking sedan hides a 6.2-liter V8 under the hood with 421 horsepower and 415 lb-ft (563 Nm) of torque on tap. It's such a shame GM doesn't offer a manual transmission on this bad boy, but that is about to change soon enough.

According to a recent Motor Trend report and a Tweet posted by the publication's senior futures editor Jonny Lieberman, the SS will be available as soon as this summer with a six-speed manual transmission and Magnetic Ride Control suspension.

It's only natural to presume that the manual will offer a minor acceleration improvement from the automatic's 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time of 4.6 seconds. Also, the Magride suspension currently offered on the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and Camaro ZL1, as well as the Cadillac CTS Vsport should improve the way this performance sedan tackles those magnificent winding B roads.

Chevrolet will supposedly debut the SS performance sedan with the six-speed manual box and the magnetic ride control suspension at this year's Woodward Dream Cruise in August. Until we come up with more info on this subject, feel free to check out our review of the 2014 Chevrolet SS.
