In India, General Motors in one of the biggest players on the automotive market together with Maruti, Tata, Hyundai, and Mahindra. Contrary to popular belief, it’s not all cheap and not so cheerful econoboxes that are mostly sold in India. In this regard, puny-sized pickup trucks and people carriers such as the 2015 Chevrolet Enjoy MPV brake the stereotypes.
Launched today in New Delhi, General Motors India is informing that the Chevrolet Enjoy is going to be priced from Rs. 6.24 lakhs (about $9,840) to Rs. 8.79 lakhs (or $13,890 at current exchange rates). Able to seat eight people, the Enjoy is a versatile multi-purpose vehicle tailored to the needs of the Indian automotive market.
“The Chevrolet Enjoy continues to be the most value-for-money proposition in the compact MPV segment. With a host of refreshing new changes including a brand new three-spoke sporty steering wheel with audio controls, the new Chevrolet Enjoy is even more upmarket and appealing thereby addressing the dual needs for family travel and business use,” declared Mr. Arvind Saxena, president and Managing Director of General Motors India.
The 4.3-meter long and 1.68-meter wide Chevrolet Enjoy is available in a choice of six exterior finishes: Velvet Red, Sandrift Grey, Linen Beige, Summit White, Caviar Black, and Switchblade Silver. Believe it or not, this MPV is rear-wheel drive, employing McPherson struts at the front and a five-link rear suspension at the rear. The funny thing is that this is a “hybrid rigid chassis,” which combines true monocoque structure traits with a body-on-frame design.
Available in LS, LT, and LTZ trim levels, the India-bound Chevrolet Enjoy is available with a 1.3-liter turbo diesel produced in India. This oil burner delivers 75 horsepower and 172 Nm (127 lb-ft) from 1,750 rpm. On the petrol front, there’s a 1.4-liter with 100 horsepower and 131 Nm (96 lb-ft) of torque lighting the rear wheels of this minivan.
