2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Tires and Brakes Cost Brand New Car Money. Not Joking

2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 tires and brakes quote for Z07 Performance Package model 1 photo

With a sticker price of $79,995, the Z06-ified C7 Corvette isn’t exactly cheap, chiefly because it packs an LT4 small-block V8 with 650 ponies and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) under its vented hood. Opt for the Z07 Performance Package and you are looking at a slightly hefty $7,995 on top.
Oh, and if you choose the Z07 go-faster treatment from the Z06 online configurator, you need to get a further optional extra whether you like it or not: either the Carbon Flash-painted Ground Effects Package ($2,995) or the visible carbon fiber pack ($3,995). Cheap thrills is an understatement with the Z06...

But there’s something that boggles the mind more than the sheer sticker price of a properly optioned Z-O-six - Hendrick Chevrolet’s quote for a full set of Z07 carbon ceramic rotors, a set of brake pads and four super sticky pieces of Michelin rubber.

If you’re curious about the total, that’s $17,859.96

Yes, you heard that right. After Charles Martel uploaded on Opposite Lock, commenters started searching through the GM Parts Headquarters to find out that, if not for the dealer premium, all of those parts would set you back $9,900 including shipping. It’s still a lot of greenback, but it’s $7,959.96 cheaper though.

These days, $17,859.96 buys you an equipped 2015 Dodge Dart or Chevrolet Cruze, which is begging the question: when did Corvette Z06 ownership get so damn expensive? Then again, world-class performance doesn’t come cheap...

In related 'Vette news, a mid-engined Corvette with 1,000 HP is going under the hammer on the 27th of March, while Forgiato did its thing with a gold chrome-wrapped widebody C7 Corvette Stingray.
