For the 2015 model year, the golden bowtie manufacturer operated very subtle changes to its halo sportscar. Well, besides the new Z06 and its 650 horsepower supercharged small-block V8 engine.
We know how much the normal 2015 Corvette costs in the States and, as expected, the Euro-spec Vette is considerably more expensive due to shipping costs and taxes. The base Corvette is $54,995, but that MSRP hikes to $92,425 (€74,500) in Germany.
That’s almost double the money. It seems like there’s a price to pay if you don’t want to roll with the Porsche 911 pack. Speaking of which, a brand spanking new 911 (991) Carrera with the PDK dual-clutch auto starts from €93,927 ($117,169). But then again, the Vette is a different animal.
In Europe it comes with the Z51 package as standard, which improves the handling front with performance-oriented gear ratios, large brakes, a dry-sump lubrication system and a limited-slip differential for duking it out at full opposite lock in the twisties like a possesed man.
Similar to the 911, the Corvette comes with a seven-speed stick shift as standard. Mated to the LT1 small-block V8, the 6.2-liter engine’s 466 ponies and 630 Nm (465 lb-ft) are enough for a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) stint of 4.2 seconds. By comparison, the Carrera with the PDK is able to hit that in 4.4 seconds.
