At long last, orange paint will make a much-anticipated comeback in the Corvette Stingray color options list, as soon as the 2015 model year model arrives in dealer showrooms later this year.
The Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic hue was first introduced for the Corvette during the 2005 and 2006 model years, eventually giving way to a slightly more yellowish Atomic Orange the following year. Despite its name, the Inferno Orange shade introduced in 2011 had more to do with red than the color featured in its name.
Even though it has been in production since August 2013, the seventh-generation Vette options list doesn't feature orange paint whatsoever. Only 6 standard and 4 premium colors are currently offered, the closest to orange being Velocity Yellow Tintcoat ($995). However, it looks like Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic will be offered on the revised 2015 model, although it will sport a slightly different name than its predecessor.
After a handful of Corvette Forum members attended the 2014 National Corvette Museum Bash, member "mpuzach" said that the new color "was announced by Harlan Charles at the bash this morning; I was there and heard it with my own ears. It will be called Daytona Sunrise Orange Metallic. I spoke with Harlan one-on-one afterward and he told me the color will be somewhat lighter and brighter than the former Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic.”
Except the aforementioned, what other color would you like to see on the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette most?
