Blending the coolness and capability of a mid-size workhorse and the versatileness of the GearOn accessory system, Chevrolet has confirmed that the Colorado GearOn Edition will make its debut at the Chicago Auto Show on February 13th. If you thought that only maximizing cargo capacity and usability is the name of the game here, do keep in mind that the fun factor has been upped a little bit as well.
Going on sale this spring with prices starting at $31,250, the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado GearOn Edition will be offered in the guise of LT models in extended or crew cab configurations. Long or short bed and four-wheel drive are available too. The highlights of the GearOn accessory system is that it can be configured to mount bikes, paddle boards, a bed-mounted tent, kayaks, you name it.

Furthermore, the golden bowtie manufacturer includes amenities such as cargo tie-down rings, a divider package and a bars pack. Additional equipment that’s thrown in as standard on this special edition Colorado includes an EZ Lift system and lower tailgate, a rear window defogger, remote start, fog lamps, black Chevrolet bowtie emblems front and rear, a body-color front grille, off-road assist steps and black wheels.

Boasting with the most grunt and best highway efficiency in the mid-size pickup truck segment, the Colorado also boasts with a trailering rating of 7,000 lbs (3,175 kg, V6 2WD) and a 1,590 lbs (721 kg) payload. Now regarding the oily bits: the GearOn has a 305 HP 3.6 V6 mated to a 6-speed automatic. In this configuration, fuel economy sits at 18 mpg (13 l/100 km) in the city and 26 mpg (9 l/100 km) highway.
