As hilarious as this may sound, General Motors is adamant the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado truck will change you with one turn of a key. That’s what the following video ad's description on YouTube is telling us, but mostly everything doesn't make sense.
First of all, we’re given a suit-and-tie youngster driving an old Japanese sedan to his corporate job in the city, listening to a dreary tune on the radio which sounds a lot more miserable than the 1990s REM hit single Everybody Hurts or any other rock ballad.
That same tune is played by a group of street performing musicians standing at the entrance of a company’s headquarters, with the same song played in muzak form even by the elevator. As our youngster leaves the elevator, a business-casual dressed dude enters, with the elevator music changing over from that awful song to AC/DC’s classy Back in Black.
Needless to say, the Australian rock band’s hit song carries on playing thanks to the street performing trio. Then the director filmed our sharp dressed man entering his 2015 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 and, guess what, the 1980s have called and Back in Black is playing on the radio as well! Ba dum tss!
Don’t dare to ask if the Colorado is aimed at those guys that listen rock music, but we don’t understand what GM was trying to tell with the “with one turn of a key, the 2015 Chevy Colorado will change you.”
This ad is even more absurd if you vector in that October recall of the 2015 GMC Canyon and 2015 Chevrolet Colorado mid-size workhorses. Sorry General Motors, but this is marketing at its blandest.
