At first sight, it might seem like a C6 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport and a 2015 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack are not likely to battle each other at the drag strip. After all, we are talking about a muscle car and a track-savvy sportscar, right?
Wrong. 1,320 feet experience has taught us the importance of never saying never, with the piece of footage below bringing the two machines together with a Christmas Tree.

Besides, the two are closer than you might expect when it comes to the quarter mile data. Speaking of which, you'll be able to grab an in-depth report on their fight at the end of the clip, where the slips are shown.

In fact, you'll have to use those numbers to compare the two slabs of America and that's because the video only shows one of the runs, where the 'Vette driver decided to give up due to the poor 60-foot performance.

Here's the Mopar driver explaining the clip: "Didn't get any vids on the GoPro but all the slips are at the end of the video. was having wayyy to much fun and I kept forgetting to turn it on. It seems the car gets better time [when] I run it. Sub 12s in 1,200+ DA. So this guy is a kinda a rival of mine but he couldn't hook. We usually are very close in times. It really doesn't make sense for a 4300+ [lbs] car to be moving that quick with me. I'm 210 lbs."

Come to think of it, the 6.4-liter, 485 hp Challenger and the 3,289 lb Grand Sport, which is motivated by a 430 hp 6.2-liter LS3, are both the kind of naturally aspirated machine we might not get in the future. So let's enjoy them while we can.

Sure, The Big Three will make sure the Big V8 stays around for as long as possible, but once turbocharged, downsized performance engines take over, affording an eight-piston heart will become even more complicated.
