With around six months until the model gets officially launched, with latest reports suggesting a reveal at the LA Auto Show in November, the 2015 Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG (W205) has started making the regular testing rounds for this year after the winter season is over.
Powered by a newly-developed four-liter engine that is said to offer 476 hp and at least 650 Nm (479 lb ft) of torque in its least powerful version, the new AMG C-Class comes to increase the power advantage that AMG cars usually have over their opponents from Munich and Ingolstadt.

Internally codenamed M177, the all-new V8 is twin-turbocharged by twin-scroll turbos which are situated inside the cylinder lines, just like on the BMW S63 and the Audi 4.0 TFSI V8s.

Apart from a lower weight thanks to much shorter exhaust manifolds, this technical solution apparently also minimizes turbocharger lag, with the new M177 said to feel almost like a naturally aspirated engine under throttle.

An S-Model version of the upcoming C 63 AMG W205 is said to develop at least 510 HP and 700 Nm (516 lb ft) of torque, making for the fastest production C-Class in history. What is not confirmed as of yet is if the S-Model will also come with 4Matic all-wheel drive, as the decision for the “standard” C 63 AMG has already been made and it will be rear-wheel drove only.

The following spy photos depict a pre-production prototype of the model in its latest fashion attire, showing much more skin than the cars we have spotted in recent months during cold-weather testing.

Seen from the front, it is crystal clear that the new C 63 AMG will benefit from a drastically-increased width of the front track, in typical AMG fashion. The model spotted also seems to sport the full-LED Intelligent Light System and the extra-large glass sun roof options from the regular C-Class.
