We are still about nine or ten months away from an official launch of the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG W205, but reports about the model have started appearing even before the non-AMG C-Class W205 was unveiled.
Despite earlier reports saying that the new model will feature a dual-clutch transmission in the style of the SLS AMG or the AMG models built on the MFA (Modular Front Architecture) platform, it seems that the C 63 AMG W205 will have the tried and tested seven-speed multi-clutch (MCT) transmission from the current W204 model.
This is not necessarily bad news from neither a weight point of view (a dual-clutch transmission is slightly heavier than an automatic, ed), nor a shift speed point of view, as the Mercedes-Benz MCT can shift gears in either manual or sport mode in just 100 milliseconds.
As known from before, the new C 63 AMG W205 will sport an all-new four-liter V8 codenamed M177, which will deliver around 480 hp and 650 Nm (479 lb ft) of torque. Paired with an optional in Europe but standard in the US 4Matic all-wheel drive system it should offer a naught to 100 km/h (62 mph) of under four seconds.
