2015 BMW S1000RR Caught Testing

The upcoming 2015 BMW S1000RR was caught testing by one of the readers of Swiss magazine acidmoto, in a trim without camouflage and which indicates that the bike is “ready to roll”. The new S1000RR will be introduced in Germany at the Intermot show in Cologne, in early October, as we reported.

Still BMW is secretive as far as the new superbike is concerned, with all sorts of rumors in circulation mentioning that the Bavarian manufacturer has prepared a much superior trim for the bike. Namely, the most thrilling upgrades the 2015 MY S1000RR is rumored to receive are the active suspension and the racing ABS, two of the feats which have been so far reserved for the flagship HP4 model.

The first look at the new S1000RR shows a revised bodywork design, with a skimpier fairing. Still retaining unmistakable lines and aggressiveness, the fairing seems to have a much more functional design for engine ventilation, with the left side opening in a rhomboidal shape that’s larger than the triangular one of the 2014 version. At the same time, the whole structure appears to let the engine cool down better.

As far as the headlights are concerned, the Swiss magazine only conveys their rider’s report, as there is still not enough relevant info on the bike. The guy who snapped these two photos says that what appeared to be a symmetrical front end was only a “mask” used by BMW to hide the real looks of the bike. Until clear photos of the S1000RR in its final attire surface, this is all we’ve got.

However, since the two different headlights of this superbike have become a trademark of the Bavarian manufacturer and a similar aesthetic solution was adopted a long time go for other adventure-class bikes (F800, R1200GS), it’s rather hard to believe that BMW will ditch this design.

The source also mentions the revised rearset position, the revised tank shape and riding position, as well as an increase in the maximum power, which is now expected to be north of the 200 hp mark. With the Intermot around the corner, 1-5 October, there’s not much suspense left until the 2015 BMW S1000RR is revealed.
