Earlier this week, we showed you the new BMW M4 Coupe like you’ve never seen it before and as it should be seen most of the time. That video was shot by the guys from David Hale Films and featured Mauro Calo behind the wheel in some twisted mountains.
It was beautifully shot and really made a great impression on us therefore, when we saw this one we quickly realized that the same duo must’ve been behind it. However, we don’t have any official info about it just yet, as it was published on a different Youtube account.
In it, the same kind of shots can be seen, this time with the sedan M3, our pick if we were to differentiate between the two newest M models. The practicality of the two extra doors cannot be denied but that’s not what makes us want the M3 more though. What truly is a decisive factor is the way it looks.
The M4 is a stunner, no doubt about it, but the bigger rear wheel arches and the better proportions of the Sedan make it a winner for us. And since they are exactly the same on the spec sheet, our reasoning makes even more sense.
Both of them use the same 3-liter S55 powerplant under the bonnet, fitted with two Mitsubishi turbochargers that churn out 431 HP and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque. That power goes to the rear wheels alone through a CFRP prop shaft but that doesn’t mean there’s a drop in traction.
Oh no, the cars are pretty fast to 100 km/h (62 mph) according to the official numbers. Both can reach the benchmark speed in 4.1 seconds when fitted with the automatic 7-speed DCT gearbox and 4.3 seconds when fitted with the manual 6-speed one that is also cheaper.
Speaking of money, the M4 Coupe is more expensive than its sedan brother by $2,200 in the US, its pricing starting at $64,200 with the manual gearbox. For the auto you’ll have to add $2,800 to that number.
