It was a BMW F800R rider’s helmet-mounted cameras that gave us these images, which show us what appears to be the production-ready 2015 M3. From what we can see here, all the M details of the car are identical to those shown on the BMW M4 concept.

The M3 clues start on the front fascia, where the LED headlights are closer to that of the 4 Series than to the lights on the 3 Series. We have seen this move before, with the previous E90 M3 sedan borrowing the headlights of the E92 3-Series Coupe.

There’s an M badge on the kidney grille, while the front apron below sports two complex side air intakes. The side air “stabilizers” also seem to be here. The power dome on the hood is present, albeit in what appears to be a less pronounced form compared to the replaced E90 M3. Oh and let’s not forget about that carbon roof.

Moving to the sides of the 2015 BMW M3, we find gills on the front fenders, while the entire profile seems more muscular than ever.

The M3’s rear treats us with what seems to be a bold line for the luggage compartment lid. As for the rear apron, we’re once again reminded of the M4 Concept. The quadruple tailpipes are concealed in a diffuser element and flanked by the elements we’ve seen on the concept.

We still don’t know exactly what will come from under the 2015 M3’s hood in terms of output. However, the vehicle is expected to top the current M3’s 420 HP, albeit not by much. Power will come from an S55 twin-turbo straight six, The unit will work with either a six-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT.

However, the weight saving is more important here. BMW has been making serious efforts, such as developing CFRP (carbon fibre reinforced polymer) components to make the M3 a slimmer beast. The sedan is expected to tip the scales at 1,500 kg (3,306 lbs), which would make it 80 kg (176 lbs) than the car it replaces. The 2015 BMW M3 will make its official debut at the 2014 Detroit Motor Show, alongside the M4.

Oh, by the way, that gorgeous color is called Yas Marina Blau Metallic.
