This year we got to meet the second model in the BMW 4 Series line-up, the one that takes its roof off for you. We’re talking about the Convertible, of course, probably the best choice in the 4 range at the moment.
Following in the footsteps of the 3 Series Convertible it replaces, the new car stayed true to the hardtop option, being the only car in BMW’s line-up at the moment that has 4 seats and a hard, retractable roof. There’s also the E89 Z4 but you can only take one person with you in that roadster.

High expectations preceded the car and, fortunately, it delivered. While it may not be the perfect track beast due to its added weight compared to the Coupe and it might not be the most hardcore BMW the Germans ever made, the cabrio does its job to perfection, nonetheless.

It looks good, drives good and draws attention, all these being very logical reasons to buy it for anyone that’s interested in such a car. After all, let’s face it, you don’t buy a convertible for practicality.

Speaking of which, the boot doesn’t offer a lot of space, especially when the roof is down. Come to think of it, you almost don’t get any room at all over there but maybe enough for a small bag.

The engine does its job perfectly, offering both high mpg when needed and plenty of power in demanding situations. Roman, from The Fast Lane Car took one 435i for a quick spin. Let’s see what he found out.
