2015 BMW 2 Series 7 Seater Spied Half Naked

If you thought BMW is done with the front-wheel drive models for now, think again. After the 2 Series Active Tourer comes yet another model, using the same platform but offering more space in the back. That’s right, we’re talking about the 7-seater version of the Active Tourer that was just spotted testing half naked by our spy photographers.

So, what’s going to be the difference between the two? It’s plain obvious that this model, that’s still being tested, will have two extra seats in the back but looking at these photos, they seem just big enough for kids. Nothing more. It’s the same story as in the case of the new X5, if you will. During our test drive behind its wheel, we noticed that if you do go for the optional extra 2 seats in the boot, no grown man or woman will ever be able to sit there and call it ‘comfortable’.

Apart from that, nothing will change. The car’s design remains the same, with a slightly longer and taller greenhouse towards the back (for more room, of course).

Spec-wise, the same engines will be used, varying from 1.5-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and diesel plants to the range-topping 2-liter 231 HP and 350 Nm B48 motor that will be powering the 225i. xDrive models will also come out, possibly from the get go, concomitant with the 5-seater version.

The focus is on practicality here, with the cars being configured to return great mpg and low CO2 emissions while making sure you miss absolutely nothing inside. Plenty of storage spaces will be available with the rear seats foldable in all sort of ways to allow you to carry almost anything, from a surf board to a bike.
