This fall, Audi is expected to reveal the third generation of the TT coupe, built on the same platform as the new A3, itself a third-generation model.
However, we don't have to wait that long to see the car in sheetmetal. That's because there's good reason to believe the Allroad Shooting Brake Concept they revealed yesterday is actually a preview for the next TT. Audi pulled an identical stunt in 2005 with another Shooting Brake+TT one-two combo.
German officials have already made it clear that the TT would be a design evolution, not a revolution. And so its not surprising that the 2015 TT rendering came out looking so familiar.
There are, however distinguishing traits in the sharper grille design and LED headlights. But the proportions and roof line are so similar, you could almost call this a facelift. At 4.2 meters in length, the Detroit-bound concept is exactly the same size as the current model, but the wheelbase has increased a little bit.
The similarities between the Mk2 and Mk3 are skin deep though. underneath the body is a brand new platform and a range of new engines. Audi has also revealed an amazing interior with an all-digital dashboard and temperature controls in the air vents.
