2015 Audi S6 Acceleration Tests: 450 HP and Launch Control

Right, German car fans, we've had enough of talking about Passats with 2-liter diesel engines. How about something with more power, more cylinders and acceleration to rival that of a Porsche, all in a package that's roughly the size of the moon. It can only be the new Audi S6, which for 2015 received a modest facelift and power bump.
The same 4-liter TFSI engine still powers both the sedan and estate. However, the output has been bumped from 420 to 450 horsepower. That's on par with the BMW 550i and Mercedes E500, but using a much smaller block. In the S6 Saloon, the state-of-the-art updated engines in good for a 0-62mph sprint time of just 4.4 seconds. The S6 Avant needs 4.6 seconds.

This next video taken using a GoPro camera shows that 4.4 seconds in a 450 horsepower, 1.9 ton sedan actually looks like. The S6 is fast off the line and doesn't seem to lose any pace until the acceleration pedal is released at 200 km/h (124 mph).

The standard kit on this bad boy includes quattro permanent allwheel drive incorporating the sports differential and the adaptive air suspension, which lowers the body by 20 millimeters. Matt black calipers and 19-inch alloy wheels are also installed, though you could bump that to 20 or 21-inch units.

UK versions of the S6 and S6 Avant are available in Britain from November, with deliveries scheduled to take place in the first quarter of 2015. Prices start at £56,000 for the 4-door and £58,000 for the Avant.

The C7-generation of the S6 was launched in 2012 and its mechanical twin brother, the S7, came out in 2013. Both use the same 4-liter engine, which Audi co-developed with Bentley and replaces the old 5.2-liter V10 used by the C6.
