We sense a sports sedan battle is in the air this year, between Benz's finest launched last year and the new S3 sedan. Both are brand new nameplates, both come with all-wheel drive and both are powered by 2-liter engines. However, while all German cars are created equal, some are more equal than others, the S3 being about 60 hp down on the AMG.
The fact that it's an underdog and the first S3 model ever sold in America compelled us to add a new element to the upcoming battle: the price. We know the CLA 45 AMG costs $47,450 plus destination, but the S3 sedan is not on sale yet.

However, a document that recently fell into the hands of Jalopnik suggests the Audi model costs $41,100. The same document suggests normal trim levels from the A3 sedan apply, the S3 being available with Premum+ package. That would mean you get standard 18-inch wheels, an aluminum interior trim package and keyless entry, as well as standard leather seating surfaces, retractable MMI display, available Audi drive select, 4G LTE connectivity and Bang & Olufsen audio.

The funny thing is that at $41,100, the S3 is only slightly more expensive than a $38,495 Subaru WRX STI Limited.
