Audi USA has just revealed the 2015 RS5 Coupe Sport Edition, a fresh 2-door that does very little to hide its age from our eyes. The mid-size quattro sports coupe is probably going to be replaced within a year and to make sure this generation keeps selling, Audi have put together a special edition of just 75 units.
Put together by Audi Exclusive, all limited edition models will be painted in Daytona Gray or Nardo Gray, being fitted with the red brake caliper option and 20-inch V-spoke wheels as standard.
Interior changes are rather limited, but the seats come with black and crimson red Nappa leather upholstry, which is a bit brash compared to the gray exterior. The RS5 also gets red door panel inserts and body-colored inlays.
Under the bonnet, you will find the same high-revving 4.2-liter FSI V8 engine connected to a seven-speed S tronic gearbox and permanent all-wheel drive. It produces 450 horsepower and17 lb-ft (429 Nm) of torque, though what's special about this RS5 edition is that it has had its limiter changed with the air of the optional performance pack. So now, the coupe can reach a new electronically-limited top speed of 174 mph (280 km/h).
Will that be enough to convince you not to buy the lighter, more dynamic BMW M4? We don't know, but as things stand, this is still the only German coupe with a naturally aspirated V8 engine and unlike most of its rivals, it offers all-wheel drive as standard.
The sticky point with the RS5 Sport Edition is the price, which is $87,575. That's more than double what you pay for a BMW M235i coupe and about 50% more than a basic M3 sedan.
