2015 Audi A3 Commercial: Driver Role-playing / Gross Parents

I don't know if Audi is coming to the Super Bowl this year and frankly I don't care. Because using 30 seconds of overpriced halftime expose will never help me decide which car I want to buy. Regardless, a couple of worthy commercials have been released online a week ago and I want to share them with you.

This one is called "Driver" and it seems to be the least popular of the two. The idea is that the A3 sedan brings the German luxury sedan to such a level of affordability that having a chauffeur becomes a game a young married couple play.

She acts the role of the hard-edged buy sexy businesswoman and he is the driver, like Jason Statham but with more hair. They kiss off screen and then Audi lets you know they're actually a married couple by showing their little girl who's also in the car and says "mom, dad, that's gross!".

So what can we tell you about Audi's $29,900 sedan that you don't already know? For starters, the car is made in Hungary, not Germany. The base model comes with a 1.8-liter turbo with 170 hp and front-wheel drive, but for around $33k, you can also get a 2-liter with 200 hp. This is the first time Audi has built the A3 as a sedan and headroom in the back is limited because of that sexy roof line. But despite this, the model is doing very well.

The 2015 Audi A3 models, including new sedan and Cabriolet variants, have generated total sales of 22,250 units since the first of the family line models reached the U.S. last spring until the end of 2014. On a year-to-date basis, this represents a massive 2,496.3% increase. Yeah, that's 26 times more cars.
