Scheduled to arrive in 2015, the next-generation Acura/Honda NSX will cost as much as a Porsche 911 and bring the excitement offered by the Ferrari 458, development chief Ted Klaus revealed today.
“We’re looking for the excitement of the 458 at the price of the 911, and we think the hybrid technology can help us achieve that,” Klaus said according to Autocar, adding that the 2015 NSX was also benchmarked against the Nissan GT-R, the Audi R8 and the McLaren 12C.
“The NSX has never been about a set of figures on a piece of paper,” he commented. “As with the original, the eventual power figure won’t grab headlines, for instance, but the qualities that you can’t write down, such as driver involvement and pleasure, are the ones that will matter.”
The 2015 Acura NSX will be motivated by a hybrid powertrain consisting of a V6 engine and two electric motors for the front wheels. The upcoming supercar will be built in Ohio.
