Yamaha shows its latest addition to the already hugely popular MT family, the all-new 2014 MT-125, most likely a naked version of the YZF-R125 entry-point machine. The styling is exceptional, and is consistent with the other two MTs, the MT-07 and MT-09.
Even though the chassis seems to be the same as the one used in the R125, the new small-displacement Yamaha is equipped with a heap of newly designed parts, from the bodywork to the headlight, wider bas, tank and all. The revised geometry also belongs to the MT family, with a more upright riding position for more control in the busy urban environment.

The 2014 Yamaha MT-125 comes with an all-LED high-tech dashboard and LED tail light, racey Y-spoke cast wheels loaded with 17” tires and 292mm/ 230mm wave rotors in the front and rear, respectively for solid stopping power.

Speaking of power, the injected 124.7cc liquid-cooled single is good for 15 hp @9,000 rpm and 12.4 Nm (9.1 lb-ft) of torque at 8,000 rpm, which should make the 138 kg (304 lbs, wet) bike exceptionally fun. The range is also supposed to be a great selling point, as the 2014 Yamaha MT-125 boasts an 11.5-liter (3 US gal) tank.

No word on the price, but the bike should make it in European Yamaha dealerships this July. Available colors are red, blue and grey, and we’re a bit surprised with the lack of ABS. Will it cross the pond to North America? Hopefully it will, but most likely not before Yamaha decides to send the MT-07 to the US.
